Alex Piekarski joins the Ranger Coaching Staff in 2020 as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach.
Piekarski comes to Northwestern after one season at Hastings College where he was 17-5 as the head coach. In 2019, he led the Broncos to the programs seventh consecutive trip to the NAIA national tournament.
Before making the move to Hastings, Piekarski, was the assistant coach for two seasons at NCAA Division II Wayne State in Wayne, Neb. He coordinated recruiting at Wayne State and implemented the academic monitoring program. During his tenure, the team achieved an overall 3.70 GPA. His other responsibilities included practice planning, overseeing compliance, and organizing team travel and camps.
Piekarski spent a year at NCAA Division I Utah State University in Logan, Utah. There he facilitated internal operations; coached goalkeepers; oversaw film and operations; engaged in team marketing and practice planning. As part of the Utah State staff, Piekarski coached five All-Mountain West selections and two All-Pacific Regional selections in 2016.
Piekarski started off his collegiate coaching career at NCAA Division II St. Cloud State in St. Cloud, Minn., where he was the assistant coach from 2014-16. While at St. Cloud State, Piekarski was the lead assistant directly involved in all facets of the program. He assisted with on-field training, oversaw coordinating team travel, film breakdown, opponent scouting and community service.
In 2014, Piekarski, a Menasha, Wisconsin native earned his bachelor's degree in middle childhood/early adolescence education and history from Lakeland University in Wisconsin. During his collegiate soccer career, he was a four-year letter winner, earning First Team Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference honors for two consecutive years. In 2016, Piekarski received his master's degree in sports administration from St. Cloud State.
